The STEAM Olympic Night at Chinguacousy Secondary School will introduce students to various STEAM-based projects, free of charge for the participants. This will allow them to explore concepts that connect their current curriculum to ideas that they will encounter in high school and in the real world. The students will participate in an evening of fun workshops and activities, with a chance to win some cool prizes!

What is STEAM Olympic Night?
STEAM Olympic Night will introduce students to various STEAM-based workshops, free of charge for all of the participants. This will allow students to explore concepts that connect their current curriculum to ideas that they will encounter in high school and in the real world. The students will participate in fun workshops and activities as well as a culminating activity, with a chance to win some cool prizes!
What will the theme of STEAM Olympic Night be?
The STEAM Olympic Night culminating challenge will involve a museum heist! More information will be provided on the day of the event!
What will STEAM Olympic Night look like?
The first 30 minutes of the event will focus on interactive icebreakers and opening remarks. The STEAM Olympic Night events will be divided into two portions. The first 2 hour learning period will involve informative workshops and activities. The workshops will help prepare for the last 2 hours when participants will be completing the final culminating task.
What will the culminating task include?
The culminating task will encompass all aspects of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math). After signing up, you will receive a follow-up registration form that will inform you of the accounts you must create on certain platforms and websites. These will be needed in order for you to communicate with your team members, participate in the event and submit your culminating task.
Is there anything I should do to prepare before the event?
In terms of preparation, STEAM Olympic Night will focus on the grade 9 curriculum. Any new concepts will be explained to you through the workshops and you will receive resources to help you during the event.
Who can attend STEAM Olympic Night?
Anyone in the Grade 9 Chinguacousy Regional SciTech Program can participate!
What do I need to participate at home?
Firstly, fill out the registration form. You will require a device connected to the internet, access to a microphone, and possibly a paper and pencil. There may be certain softwares, platforms, and other resources you will need for the day of the event, which will be listed on our follow-up registration form!
When will STEAM Olympic Night be?
STEAM Olympic Night will take place on Tuesday, May 25th, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

What if I don’t have a team?
You can always look for fellow SciTech peers to join your team. If you do not have a team though, that is completely fine! Our team will be organizing all the participants into teams of five! This will give you a chance to meet new people and network with other SciTech students in the Chingaucousy school community.
